What the hell have I been stuffing into this 5'4" frame all these years. All that damn food! It's disgusting when you think about how much food you eat when you go out to dinner. It's only recently since I've been going out to local restaurants (rather than chain restaurants) that I've been realizing certain things about my eating habits.
First, they ask you if you want a drink-I mean come on! HELL YEAH-I want a drink! And of course, I order a Cosmopolitan which is sweet and packed full of carbs and calories. On average I'll have two which on average are about 260 calories and 17 carbs EACH.

Then they bring out the bread and butter and forget it-if you go to Red Lobster you know you have to eat at least 2 of the cheese biscuits-Lord knows how many calories or carbs are in those.
Then you order an appetizer and eat that because your mind is telling you that you are hungry but really your not.

Then you order an entree which you end up taking home anyway because (seriously), you and I both know that after all of the above, baby girl is now feeling a bit sick.

Even still---sometimes you push yourself to go a bit further. You can't help yourself and you decide to take the plunge. Dessert Anyone?! Hello Brownie a la mode! (Yikes!)

And if you don't experience immediate diarrhea or vomiting after all that food then it will sit and sit in your belly ALL night long! (making you feel depressed and sort of in a food coma/depression)
How long do you think it's going to take to get rid of all of that? To digest all that? To actually feel hunger again? Probably about 24-30 hours to feel (honestly) hungry again.
Now granted-NOT EVERYONE EATS LIKE THIS (and there are people who can eat like this and remain slim. They are freaks of nature (joking) or it could be their genetics or their metabolism)--However, there are people that eat like this or close to this everyday, or every few days, seriously, even once a week is TOO much. Sadly, they don't think about how their habits are making them obese and sick and that's why most of America is obese and dying (IMO).
I've learned that the portion sizes at restaurants are for more than 1 person. So, my husband and I share everything. I rarely order an entree anymore. I'll just order an appetizer because with all the calories and carbs--an appetizer really is enough food for one person. If I do order an entree-my husband and I will share it and then we'll share a dessert. I also know that if I'm going out to dinner that night-I won't eat lunch and I'll have something really light for breakfast (yogurt and maybe a hardboiled egg white).
The major catalyst to losing weight is to STOP EATING SO MUCH! Simple huh? Yeah right! Every 4 minutes when we're watching TV, a commercial comes on telling us how good some food item is and how we should rush out and buy it. As consumers, it doesn't benefit the food industry, advertising firms, restaurants, CEOs, celebrity endorsers, etc etc for everyone to stop eating as frequent and in the large quantities they suggest and provide.
So, think about it, while we're eating and buying what they suggest-why are they the ones looking good and getting rich? Hmmmm!!??

So true! And come on, those Cheddar Bay Biscuits at Red Lobster would be the death of me. Thank goodness I grew up not liking seafood, and thank goodness, after I learned I like it after all, living in NY and my CApe Cod roots means I refuse to count Red Lobster as real seafood, otherwise I would be in trouble!
GREAT idea to share portions. unfortunately the bf eats like a little bird and i end up hording all the leftovers... bc mama told me never to waste food. hmph... i need to get lunch now - maybe a banana split will suffice =)
